Mussels

Mussels are easy to prepare and you don’t need a special mussel pan. Prepare the mussels in a large saucepan. Excellent in combination with fries, bread, pasta or a salad.

Shellfish are a sustainable alternative to meat, poultry, or fish. This is partly because shellfish do not need to be fed as they filter food from the surrounding seawater. Secondly, no antibiotics and pesticides are added to the water. Third, greenhouse gas emissions are just a fraction of those associated with the production of meat or, for example, farmed salmon.For comparison, the production of 1 kg of eggs costs 4,5kg of CO2, while the production of mussels costs only 0,6kg of CO2 per kg of edible product. Beef produces about 19kg to 36,7kg of CO2 per kg of edible product.
